There’s an interesting theory as to how Jake dies in ‘Adventure Time.’
It’s widely assumed that the magic dog either lives for an extremely long time or is immortal in the Adventure Timeuniverse, and for a “children’s” program that’s more like an acid trip, there doesn’t appear to be a shortage of hypotheses as to how this may be achieved. The good news is that Steve Wolfhard, an ATwriter and storyboard artist, has verified that there was a fascinating episode sequence in an episode that was never shown that delineates what happens to Jake and his friends. The rest of the article is below the advertisement.
- The old dog shuts his eyes and slumps to the ground in exhaustion.
- Jake’s body bursts out of his see-through casket during his burial, which is attended by a large number of characters (with the exception of Finn, who is human and has been long assumed dead).
- But Princess Bubblegum acts quickly and prevents the kingdom from being completely destroyed.
- The rest of the article is below the advertisement.
- Adventure Time fans are well aware of this.

So in principle, Jake rescues the earth even after passing away and restores it to something more like it was before the nuclear war that wreaked such havoc on the planet. It’s a heartfelt, beautiful conclusion, and it’s clear that the showrunners put a lot of thinking into it before airing it.
Older Finn makes a cameo in ‘Adventure Time: Distant Lands Obsidian’ which is playing on HBO Max.
It appears that Finn is 17 years old in the sequence, and that he will be wearing scars and a beard in the follow-up program, which will feature more missions that take place in the Ooo realm. If you were disappointed that Adventure Time had come to an end, don’t be. The show has received a great deal of acclaim for its ability to strike a balance between fan service and a fascinating plot. It appears that we will be getting more episodes, as well as some further indications as to what Finn and Jake were up to following the conclusion of the original animation.
Jake’s age: a follow-up
Jake’s chronological age: a follow-up Jake claims that he has no idea how old he is in the game Daddy Daughter Card Wars. Maybe 40 years old. Jake was 28 years old in the pilot, while Finn was 12 years old. Finn is 17(?) years old now, isn’t he? Finn used to age in real time with the program, and we were expecting him to be 17 by the time The Comet premiered in June 2015, although he claimed to be 16 at the time. It’s been a year since then, so he should be at least 17 years old, if not 18. Following the broadcast of JoshuaMargaret Investigations, we believed that Finn was really born about the same time that Jake was.
- Please keep in mind that Jake ages in magical dog years, which is a period of time that we had no way of putting into context at the time.
- If he was 28 when Finn was 12, and he is about 40 when Finn is 17, he has aged approximately 12 years in approximately 5 human years, or approximately 12 years in 5 human years.
- Likewise, if you divide 28 by the 2.4 magical dog years per human year rate at which we believe Jake ages, you get the result that it takes approximately 11.667 human years for Jake to reach the age of 28 years.
- As long as Jake doesn’t reveal his actual age, our calculations are imprecise; but, the arithmetic is quite close, and it wouldn’t surprise us in the least if the team ran the figures on this to make everything line up.
Adventure Time, The Good Place, and the friends you make along the way
HBO Max is depicted in this image. Both programs use concepts that are similar in their approaches to what happens after death. By June 6, 2021, 9:45 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time Before we go any further, let me clarify something. Jake the dog and Finn the human, characters of the hit HBO series MaxAdventure Time, are both killed in the newest episode of the show. This isn’t a major story twist in the traditional sense. The special literally begins with the discovery that the protagonists are no longer alive, replete with a title card that emphasizes the importance of the news.
Finn, who has just lately passed away, must explore through the many levels of the world of the dead in order to locate his long-lost companion.
However, while the concept of “separate tiers of the afterlife” is reminiscent of the underworld’s layers in Greek mythology or the circles of hell in Dante’sInferno, where each concrete level has a different schtick, depending on how good or bad you were in life, Adventure Tim e’s approach to the land of the dead takes on a more poignant flavor.
- The way Adventure Time deals with what happens after death is eerily similar to the way The Good Place dealt with the same concerns in its first season.
- This combination of notions works well in both programs, producing a concept of a hereafter that isn’t predicated on perpetual wealth as the primary goal.
- It’s difficult to create a fictitious paradise, to put it another way.
- The final few episodes of The Good Place challenge the concept of a paradise that is not without flaws.
- While it is full of unending parties, unicorns, and anything else your heart might want, as Hypatia of Alexandria (Lisa Kudrow) explains, after a few hundred years, it all becomes a little stale.
- Leaving it in the past.
- As a result, demon architect Michael (Ted Danson) constructs a portal into the cosmos, which is intended for occupants of the good realm to pass through when they are prepared.
- After decades of living the wonderful (after) life, each of the characters reaches a point where they are ready to let go and go on.
- With The Good Place, creator Mike Schur created a rich afterlife that changed and moved as the main characters fought for the survival of all humanity — but their ultimate fate remains a mystery at this point in the series’ run.
- The kingdom of the dead is divided into levels, and while the highest level for the most deserving is called Nirvana, it is more like the notion of Nirvana than a Heaven where everyone’s wishes are fulfilled.
However, even though Finn manages to smuggle a device that allows him to travel through the various death levels and locate Jake, he has not earned his way into the top tier of the afterlife, which means that if he wants to spend his afterlife with Jake, it will be necessary for him to start over in a new life and do better this time.
- Some people, such as Jake’s family and Tree Trunks the elephant, are satisfied with the afterlives that have been assigned to them.
- Jake, on the other hand, decides to give up eternal joy in exchange for the chance to be with Finn in a different form the instant Finn passes through the portal.
- Finn and Jake will be reincarnated in some manner, but the public has no idea who they will become or even if they will recognize each other from their previous lives.
- Image courtesy of Netflix The concept of a Great Beyond that exists in addition to an original Great Beyond is not new.
- According to Hirokazu Kore-novelAfter eda’s Life, the deceased have one week to decide whatever ideal memory from their life they would like to relive before going on to the unknown.
- It’s not so much that company or memories of companionship are a favored option as it is that they represent the final destiny or outcome.
- We have no way of knowing what will happen to us once we die, which may be for the best.
- “That’s what the Good Place really is,” Chidi says in the penultimate episode of The Good Place: “It’s what the Good Place truly is.” It’s not even a physical location, to be honest.
It’s simply spending enough time with the people you care about.” Episodes of Adventure Time: Distant Lands — Together Again are currently available to watch on HBO Max. Netflix has made all four seasons of The Good Place available to watch.

The final film starring John Wayne and Christopher Mitchum. The two performers became estranged after Mitchum expressed his disagreement with Wayne’s conservative political beliefs during a televised appearance, and they never talked to one other again. Mitchum attempted to contact Wayne in 1979, when the veteran actor was nearing the end of his life due to cancer, but received no answer. It would have been an almost incredible number for the period in 1909 to want a million dollars in ransom.
- In either age, this is a significant quantity of money.
- Director George Sherman was a long-time buddy of John Wayne, dating back to their days working together at Republic Pictures in the 1930s, shooting western films.
- Because of Sherman’s health issues, Wayne took over direction on the days when he was unable to participate in the filming.
- Dog, John Wayne’s loyal companion, was played by two collies, Silver and Laddie (Lassie Jr.), who were trained by Robert Weatherwax and Rudd Weatherwax and performed stunts for the film.
- “Award of Excellence – 1971 / Laddie (Dog) / Bobby Weatherwax, Owner-Trainer / Big Jake” was written on a tiny brass placard attached to a hardwood base with a tile and a little brass plaque.
- There were only three John Wayne films (the others being Cahill U.S.
- All of Wayne’s other films were graded ‘A’ (for general audiences) or below.
Following that, the weapon is carried by James McCandles, who is more experienced with handguns (Patrick Wayne).
As a result, the weapon depicted in the film is really a Walther P-38 from the 1940s that was adapted by the props department to look like the much older Bergmann pistol in the film.
John Wayne was concerned about the violence in the film and insisted on including a lot of comedic moments.
The autos driven by the Texas Rangers were “REO” Motor Car Company automobiles, which was the name of a real automotive firm that was formed in 1905 and still exists today.
Olds, who was also the founder of another company that would go on to become Oldsmobile.
All of these automobiles are right-hand drive.
This changed in the early years of the twentieth century, when Ford switched from RHD to LHD manufacture with the Model T in 1908.
The ranch home utilized for the McCandles ranch is the same building that was used for the Chisum ranch in Chisum(1970), a John Waynewestern that was released a year before the film.
During a scene in which John Wayne believes his son (Christopher Mitchum) has died after crashing his motorbike, but later discovers that he was only “acting dead,” Duke strikes Mitchum twice in the face for frightening him.
At the start of the film, John Fain, portrayed by Richard Boone, assassinates the foreman of the McCandles, played by John Agar.
Despite the fact that the film was not Bobby Vinton’s first film part (he played Jeff McCandles), it was the first of just two non-singing film roles he would have in his career.
In her book, ‘Tis Herself,’ Maureen O’Hara writes that while she “wasn’t enthusiastic” about this little and insignificant role, she decided to do it since “it was Duke, so I agreed to do it.” Working with character performers from the old John Fordstock company was a pleasant experience for her, but she was dissatisfied when several of her scenes with John Waynewere removed due to the film’s long running time.
- At least two motorbikes were utilized in the production of the film.
- Patrick Wayne co-stars in the tenth John Wayne picture in which he appears, and it is the only one in which they are truly cast as father and son.
- In the scene where Big Jake first encounters Sam Sharpnose, you can see the black hair colour starting to fade.
- As a ranch foreman named Burt Ryan (John Agar), who informs Martha that he is 42 years old (although Agar himself was 49 at the time of shooting), having been in the Lincoln County War, there are numerous signals sent by his words to Martha.
- For the second, much of the Lincoln County War occurred between 1878 and 1879, which is 31 years before the dramatized events shown in this film, which takes place in 1909 and is located in Lincoln County.
- In the third location, the McCandles Ranch was modeled on the King Ranch, which still exists but is located over 740 miles away from Lincoln, New Mexico, and is not likely to be regarded as “anywhere close by,” as Burt portrays it in his book.
- Unless, of course, some of the same performers and filmmakers had made a film about Lincoln County and its War only one year before.
Another of the photographs presented in the opening montage is of “The Breakers,” a house in Newport, Rhode Island, which was erected in 1895 and served as the vacation residence of Cornelius Vanderbilt Jr.
Some of the others groan and grumble in response to this.
However, it has not been confirmed whether or not he will appear in the final product.
Each of their heads is labeled with the names “Jim Evans,” “Bob Dalton,” “Grat Dalton,” and “Dick Broadwell,” among others.
Several members of the gang were slain when they were attacked by local residents.
Some motifs in Elmer Bernstein’s soundtrack for this picture are derived from his own Oscar-nominated score for ‘The Magnificent Seven’ (1960), which he also composed.
It was founded, wholly owned, and operated as a theatrical film production subsidiary of the CBS Television network.
In this movie, John Wayne is armed with a Greener shotgun.
The shotguns in question are manufactured by the American Gun Company.
“Big Jake” was the first national movie of the week television broadcast to be broadcast on the National Broadcasting Company (NBC) in 1976, despite the fact that one of the two production companies involved, Cinema Center Films (CCF), was a wholly owned subsidiary of the Columbia Broadcasting System (CBS) at the time.
- Patrick Wayne is four years and three months older than Bobby Vinton.
- Modern technology is a prominent subject in this film, and it is explored extensively.
- In this series, which was also set at the turn of the twentieth century, the main focus was on Ransey’s use of modern technology in the course of his law enforcement duties.
- In the scene where John Wayne and Bruce Cabot are selecting shotguns, Bruce Cabot makes a typical Movie “Indian” gesture with his hand and says, in a thin accent, “Eyes no good.” However, following this moment, his accent is completely absent for the remainder of the film.

For example, when he met Andy Devine in Stagecoach, he introduced himself as “Hiya, Buck.” When he greeted the sheriff in Big Jake, he used the same phrase as before. “Hello, Buck,” he acknowledged. The mannerisms were the same for both of them.

The trivia question at the bottom of this page may reveal significant narrative aspects. The final line of Prospero’s soliloquy in The Tempest is “We are such material As dreams are made of,” which alludes to the fleeting nature of things that are longed for but never achieved. Humphrey Bogart’s character Sam Spade uses this remark in the Maltese Falcon when he says, “That’s the stuff dreams are made of,” and it was offered to director John Huston by Bogart during the closing scene in which the protagonists are unwrapping the false Maltese Falcon.
Together again, together forever in ‘Adventure Time: Distant Lands’
With the release of “Together Again,” the third episode from the HBO Max exclusive series “Adventure Time: Distant Lands,” the spotlight is finally shining on Finn and Jake once and for all. Now it’s time to embark on an adventure that takes them through life, death, and everything in between. Finn and Jake are no longer alive as of May 30, 2021. “Wait! Don’t go! “Spoilers!” you’re most likely thinking right now. Despite the fact that it isn’t a spoiler, we find out that both members of our beloved adventuring couple have passed away less than five minutes into the newest hour-long special from the “Adventure Time” epilogue series “Distant Lands.” “Finn and Jake are no longer alive,” the screen says.
- Bold.
- Finn the Human Mertens and Jake the Dog (voiced by Jeremy Shada and John DiMaggio, respectively) fought wicked wizards, demons, vampires, other humans, and even the god of chaos himself over the eight-year course of their program.
- That day has arrived for the brothers in “Together Again,” and the revelation confronts us in the same way that it confronts Finn in the film.
- There’s even a horrible line of autotune and a hasty “lesson learned” scene in which Finn proclaims out loud to himself a suitably preschool-level aphorism.
- In spite of the fact that Finn awakens from his delusion and finds himself in a type of transitional purgatory on his route to one of the fifty deadworlds, there is something about his death that feels unjustified.
- It is difficult to trace Tiffany’s background in “Adventure Time” canon, as indicated by Finn’s conflicted responses when he first encounters him in the deadworlds.
- Andrew Kolondra Jr.
In the hereafter, it isn’t Tiffany Oiler (voiced by Aryan Simhadri), who has died so many times that it isn’t surprising he is working as an undertaker in the first place.
Fox (voiced by Tom Herpich), who returns in his endearing role as “just some man,” who finds himself in the most bizarre situations via sheer dumb luck time and time again.
Furthermore, it isn’t any of the minor characters from the show’s enormous back catalogue such as Tree Trunks, Choose Goose, Joshua, Margaret, Jerome, Ghost Princess, Maja, or any other subsidiary character from the show’s wide back catalogue.
None of the parts of Finn’s life—or, more accurately, his death—are missing from the puzzle.
Of course, I’m not referring to it literally.
He did so because he sensed that someone’s aura was odd.
How could his brother abandon him when they had made a vow to each other that they would wait for each other even in death?
He intends to destroy them all, as well as the souls who inhabit them.
When it came to constructing unique and colorful landscapes for the 50 deadworlds, the backdrop design artists were definitely having a good time.

At the very least, it’s an interesting trip scene, especially considering that we get to witness the Candy Kingdom under the dominion of Peppermint Butler, replete with all of the magical repairs and augmentations that he appears to have implemented.
Even with the addition of this additional lore, there are still many unsolved mysteries.
Having established his presence behind the wheel, this episode finally begins to feel like good old righteous “Adventure Time.” Having realized that he would never be able to kill all living souls as long as Finn and Jake are still alive to resist him, the Lich adopts a new strategy and seeks to eliminate all dead souls and bring about the end of reincarnation, employing the son of Life and Death as his pawn and vessel.
We can understand this new motivation lot better now that we know it’s the Lich, rather than some vengeful jockbro who happened to be put in command of the deadworlds.
When Finn and Jake discover that whomever defeats New Death will become the new keeper of the deadworlds, they engage in a brotherly struggle like to that of Clint and Natasha on Vormir, which is a twist in and of itself.
Given that we already know that Finn and Jake will beat the Lich due to the way these stories are written, adding this extra dimension keeps the battle fresh and fascinating.
The revelation of his major role in New Death’s enmity was all the more satisfying as a result of this development.
(HBO Max/Distant Lands) took this screencapture.
And then we have the emotional awakening that we’ve been looking forward to.
The couple was forced to part ways, with Jake being sent to the deadworld’s highest level (the 50th), and Finn being assigned to a lower level.
He did not live his life for himself, on his own terms, and as a result, he was unable to join his brother in reaching nirvana.
At the same time, nirvana is a selfless decision for Jake, as long as there is “a butt of injustice to kick,” as he puts it.
When Jake realized that he couldn’t leave Finn behind by himself, he realized how important their friendship and brotherhood were to him.
Despite the fact that it takes them a while (or rather, 45 minutes or so) to come to this realization, Finn and Jake have rightly recognized at the end of the episode that they are intended to be together in every life.

“Together Again” is both a victory and a disaster, and this is the story of both.
With my mouth wide, I pondered whether I should be amazed or stunned by Jake’s choice to return to Ooo with his brother for yet another rebirth.
The pairing makes perfect sense because the two have always been together, in all their previous and future incarnations: Shoko and the white tiger, Shermy and Beth, Penelope and Betty, and so on.

Who hasn’t lived with Finn and Jake from “Slumber Party Panic” through “Come Along With Me” knows what it’s like to be reincarnated in another body.
Finn and Jake are reunited at the conclusion of “Together Again,” as the title suggests.
It’s true whether you’re dead or alive or somewhere in between. “Because it’s a pleasure to be alive with someone like you.” “Adventure Time: Distant Lands” is now accessible to watch on HBO Max, where it was previously unavailable. Log in with Xfinity on Campus for students to access resources.
