10/20/2010 Iris has been adopted! She has found her Forever Home.
9/27/2010 Iris is going to a "Foster to Adopt" Family! She is currently unavailable. Please check back in 2 weeks to see if Iris has been adopted or is still available. (BDSC will have another JRT in Foster care this weekend!)
9/17/2010 Iris has been with us for almost 2 weeks now. She is the sweetest dog. Now that it is getting colder outside we have found that Iris will need some sweaters! She goes out in the mornings and just shivers the whole time she is outside. She is such a cuddler and lover. She loves to be near you and is hungry for your love. Kisses abound! She sleeps great at night snuggled between us in bed! When left home alone, we have been crating her and she does wonderfully.
9/7/2010 Iris has been with us now for since 9/5/10. She is truly a doll! She loves to play with our own dog and our kids. She is quite a lover and snuggler! She still is a bit leary of hands reaching for her, but Iris does want the love and attention and to be petted. She enjoys walks and running in the fenced in back yard!
Iris is very gentle, and will put her paws carefully on your lap and nuzzle her face up to your chin for kisses. She keeps her back paws on the floor and just lays across your lap. She is so happy to see me in the morning that she quivers with excitement. She is learning quickly that we are not abusive- when she first got her if I reached to pet her, she would lower her head as if I were going to hit it. What a shame! This gorgeous dog is learning quickly that we only give kisses and hands are for petting. She is bonding with me quickly and will make someone a super bed-buddy. She will require daily exercise and most likely a fenced yard. She is the perfect size, in my opinion, around 18 lbs, (as listed on her vet papers) so she is big enough to go for hikes/long walks, but still small enough to fit in the smallest of beds and cars. She is truly a dog that should go everywhere with you!
She is spayed, vaccinated, rabies, heartworm negative, flea treated, wormed and comes with a free first vet visit to an area vet.
Iris came from a HIGH kill shelter in Tennessee and if we didn't save her and her friends, they would all have been dead. What a shame because Iris is so very sweet and we can't wait until she finds her forever home and someone gets to enjoy her inner and outer beauty.
We want to give a HUGE thank you to Tina, who generously paid her sponsor/pull fee so we could save her life. Tina, you are her angel!

Special Needs: 9/8/2010: We found out yesterday that Iris is frightened of thunder. During the storm, Iris just sat on my lap while trembling. What a sweetie!
