Mindy is a 9 month old, purebred rottie female. She is a local owner surrender. The family bought her from a breeder in Fredonia as a very young pup, but quickly became overwhelmed with 4 children and a baby in the house. Mindy didn't have a fenced yard to play in, so she spent much of her time being chained to the outside porch to do her business and get her exercise. Unfortunately, because of the lack of time able to be spent with her, Mindy did not receive adequate training and socialization as a young pup. This has resulted in Mindy sometimes being leary of new people at first. We are practicing the "no look, no touch, no talk" method when strangers approach, and allowing Mindy to greet people on her own terms. She has made enormous strides since coming in to BDSC Rescue and continues to improve every day. Mindy's potential is limitless because she is highly inteligent and responsive to training.

We will not, under any circumstances, adopt Mindy to a home without a fenced yard, and we will not, under any circumstances, adopt Mindy to a home with young children. Sorry, absolutely NO exceptions will be made. If possible, we would like for Mindy to go to a home with ample space as she will grow to be a very large dog.

More about Mindy:

Mindy is an absolute joy to live with. This is a dog who truly wants to be a member of the family. She possesses the classic Rottweiler dichotomy: fun-loving and playful, yet noble and dignified.

Mindy is looking for a forever family that will provide her with attention, training, rules, exercise, and lots of love. During a very important developmental stage in Mindy's life, she was deprived of these things and her owner must understand the ways in which this might affect her behavior. Because Mindy was not exposed to new people, places, and things as a youngster, she can sometimes be unsure in unfamiliar situations. Most notably, she is sometimes fearful and wary when she first meets someone and this manifests as growling and barking. We are taking a positive reinforcement approach in Mindy's rehabilitation and it is working!! In order to adopt Mindy, you must be committed to continuing training and socialization.

Now for some of Mindy's better points!

1) She is good on-leash and makes an excellent walking/jogging partner!

2) She is great for nail trimming, bathing, and grooming... she loves to be pampered!

3) Very well behaved in the car and loves to go for rides.

4) Eats well, sleeps well, crate trained, and housetrained too!

5) She is friendly and playful with other dogs but also respects the space of those who are older/shy.

6) If Fetch was an event in the Doggie Olympics, Mindy would win the Gold Medal.

Mindy's sweet expression will melt your heart. She is a wonderful dog and whoever adopts this girl will have a loyal friend for life. No dog is "perfect" and Mindy does have her one main issue she needs work on, but otherwise she is easy to live with and just a joy to be around. She settles down nicely in the house when you want to relax, but she is always up for a game when you feel like playing. If you are watching tv or working on the computer, Mindy will be laying close by keeping you company. Mindy is very affectionate and loving toward her people. She is looking for a forever family who will love her back and never give up on her... Could that be you?

Mindy is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, wormed, flea treated, and comes with a FREE first vet visit to a participating vet of your choice.

PLEASE NOTE THAT IN ORDER TO ADOPT THIS PRECIOUS PUREBRED ROTTIE, YOU MUST HAVE A FULLY FENCED YARD (no electric fences, and must be completely fenced with no gaps or holes); YOU MUST OWN YOUR OWN HOME, AND HAVE A NO CHILD HOUSEHOLD (no kids under 16) and must be willing to bring Mindy to dog training classes that are part of her adoption fee.
